DNG is dedicated to green events and sustainable living as seen by a small town girl transplanted in DC. I offer eco event consulting services while blogging the latest in green events, news, and local business in the Nation's Capitol. I'm also a fan of small business and women's empowerment so there's a dab of that here too!

These "Ladies" are doing some serious river cleanup for the District
"Lady Bird" is back!
Talk about girl power! Two years and 4.5 miles later, a German engineered boring machine emerges and brings hope for a cleaner Anacostia and Potomac Rivers. The gargantuan machine has tunneled it's way under the District for the DC Water Clean River Project in order to reduce sewage overflow for the city by 96--98%. Affectionately named "Lady Bird", the professional borer is anything but a bore as she has her own twitter account! Reports even state that for the job she's done, she emerged cleaner than expected. She's got a sense humor too.

Next Steps: Another boring machine will go down into the sewers to continue the job. Upon completion, the system will stretch 13 miles by the year 2022
Check out this video for more info on the project: https://youtu.be/BQAdB9DFH44
Follow the lady's sisters (yes boring machines siblings)
